Ever since the Dark Mode was introduced, we’ve wanted to enable the dark theme across all the apps we use. Google’s Work Apps Suite was the latest entrant to allow the use of dark mode, which is easier for the eyes and your phone’s battery. Slowly but surely, all of our favourite apps are converting to dark mode and we couldn’t be happier! If your work involves using Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides, then let us tell you how to activate dark mode on G Suite applications.

The dark theme has officially rolled out on Android devices and Google hasn’t given that option for iOS, which means the dark theme will not take effect automatically if you’ve already selected it in settings. You will have to force the theme for Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Follow these steps to go dark:

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display and Text Size > Toggle on Smart Invert.

By this, you will be able to preview all your documents in dark mode. Say goodbye to eye strain by activate dark mode on G Suite applications!

Fair warning: Smart Invert may not be your best companion or a full-fledged solution to the dark theme as some colours don’t go well with Smart Invert on iPhone/iPad.

Also, continuous toggling for Smart Invert via the Settings can prove to be lengthy and tedious, but you can make it faster using the Control Center. Follow these steps to make use of it:

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Find Control Center.
    3. Scroll down to Accessibility Shortcuts.
    4. Select Smart Invert.

Now, whenever you want to enable/disable Smart Invert, instead of going through the Settings menu, you can do it via the Control Center with a single tap on the Accessibility Shortcut. You’re welcome. Now, go and enjoy the dark side.
