Apple Ends Free iPhone Repair Program in India for iPhone 8

    Spread the word

If you were curious, Apple has ended the free iPhone repair program in India for the iPhone 8. The repair programme was announced way back in August 2018 and has lasted until now. The program had launched as some 4.7-inch iPhone 8 variants manufactured between September 2017 and March 2018 had issues in the logic board. To appease customers, the company launched a free repair program. However, the tech giant had made it clear that only certain Apple iPhone 8s were eligible.

Now, it seems Apple has finally seen fit to end the program. They’re probably assuming there aren’t any affected iPhone 8 users left who haven’t got the repairs done yet.

iPhone 8 Logic Board Repair Program

The issue with the iPhone 8 was in its logic board that illogically crashed with no warning, resulting in a frozen screen, automated restarts, and in some cases, a device that failed to start. Apple’s free iPhone repair program was conducted in India, China, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, New Zealand, and the US.

Since only select devices were affected, the free iPhone repair program in India ended. After all, the iPhone 8 is now four years old. I think most of the users might have already gotten their logic board repaired. Hence, Apple has no mention of the iPhone 8 repair program on their website anymore.

This is not the first time Apple has had a free repair or replacement program. There have been manufacturing defects in certain parts of various Apple products that the company repaired for free. For instance, this year, Apple introduced a service program to replace the receiver module on select iPhone 12 and 12 Pro devices that may experience no sound while making or receiving calls.

Anyway, the TL;DR version is that the free iPhone 8 repair program has ended. But don’t worry if you’re still using the good old Home Button wala device and haven’t had any issues with it already. Only a few devices had the logic board problem.
