The Cupertino based company released an update for the iCloud app for Windows. The updated version 12 includes support for passwords saved on Apple’s cloud service platform. Post updating to version 12 for iCloud on Windows, users could see “Passwords” available along with the list of other services including iCloud Drive, Photos, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmarks that users can sync across platforms.
The update adds a level of convenience, especially for the ones who are using an iOS device or a macOS device along with a Windows PC. Once “Passwords” is selected in the iCloud App menu, you’ll need to “Apply” to the option that opens a Chrome dialogue box with a tool to download the Extension.
With the Extension in place, users can use the passwords you had earlier created or updated on an iOS/macOS device to log in to websites. Make sure you have used the same Apple ID on your iPhone/iPad or Mac to log into the iCloud app on Windows and the Chrome Extension tool.
Earlier this week, Apple did make the said Extension available on the Chrome Web Store. The iCloud Password menu now joins the list of other Apple services on older Windows 7/8 devices and other existing services.
This is not the first time Apple has made an exclusive service available to Microsoft users. The Apple TV+ has been launched on the XBOX gaming device, and if rumours are to be believed, Mr Tim Cook and company are working on introducing Music and Podcast services to the Microsoft Store. With Apple extending its service portfolio on other platforms, it’ll be interesting to see what other features we’ll experience shortly.
