Accidents happen all the time; some end up in hospitals, some on the front-page headlines! Just like every year, we’ve been out and about (just online!) doing some sleuthing around the possible iPhone 11 launch date. This includes headline updates and the reasons why you should stay away from the updates and now, the possible day of the unveiling. And the latter, FYI, might be sooner than later! Umm, what am I talking about?
What is going on?
The way things are going, it’s unlikely Apple will have many surprises left in store on it’s 2019 iPhone lineup launch in…wait for it!
Spotted by an acclaimed Japanese website, Mac Otakara, Softbank’s President Ken Miyauchi accidentally spilled the beans on Apple’s iPhone 11 launch date, and it all makes sense now!
Speaking during an earnings call, the good guy Ken slipped up and disclosed the launch date while answering a question on how Softbank plans to handle next month’s release of the iPhone with Japan’s new law in play.
His exact words –
“Honestly, I am wondering what I should do for 10 days,” he said. “No, I shouldn’t say that… Anyway, I don’t know when the new iPhone will be released. However, after almost 10 days, it will be unbundled.”
Now, the conspiracy theorists amongst us might be busy racking their brains but before you do, take a look coz we got some theories of our own about how it all makes sense!
Miyauchi’s statement pins the iPhone 11 launch date to September 20, a Friday. And that ties in perfectly with preceding releases. Forgot? Allow me to remind you.
- iPhone XS – Launched on Friday, September 21
- iPhone X – Launched on Friday, September 22
- iPhone 7 – Launched on Friday, September 16
- iPhone 6S – Launched on… take a guess… September 25, also a Friday!
And so on…
So, you see how it all works out perfectly?
What’s done is done
Obviously, Miyauchi was eager to cover up his mistake. So, he tried to save the day by saying, “Excuse me, I shouldn’t say that.” Like that’ll help! The cat’s already out of the bag, mate.
The only big mystery left was the date of the big reveal, until now. But, knowing about the launch date of the new iPhone and buying the new iPhone are two very different things. But to help you make up your mind, Apple will bless the iPhone 11 with a new triple rear camera, while a smartass logic board switch will free up space for a larger battery. And we also know the 2020 iPhone will feature a radical redesign, new display technology along with next-gen camera tech, new screen sizes, a switch to USB-C, and the adoption of 5G. All thanks to the rumors!
All these shenanigans make iPhone 11 a hard sell, but hold tight coz it’s not like Samsung is doing any better.
