If you aren’t already sold on the idea of calling the iPhone 12 your own, we’ve got news that might just tip the scales in the latest flagship iPhone’s favour. Rumour has it that the iPhone 12 Pro model may feature a 120Hz ProMotion display, 3x camera zoom, and improved Face ID, among other cool new features.
If this turns out to be true, the iPhone 12 Pro will be a total game-changer. Here’s what we’ve heard.
Better Display, Better Battery Life
According to Max Weinbach’s latest leaks as featured on the YouTube channel EverythingApplePro, the iPhone 12 Pro models, i.e. the high-end 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch variants of the iPhone 12, will feature a high refresh-rate 120Hz ProMotion display, similar to the ones seen on the iPad Pro for a few years now. It will also be able to switch dynamically between 60Hz and 120Hz modes to conserve battery life when required.
To support the 120Hz display, it seems Apple will also be increasing the phone’s battery capacity. This will allow the phone to maintain a good battery life even as it rapidly refreshes the display for long periods. If rumours are to be believed, the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max will feature a battery capacity in excess of 4400mAh.
You might recall that Apple made a big deal about battery longevity with its iPhone 11 and 11 Pro models, which it’s trying to maintain with the iPhone 12 2020 models while also adding battery-intensive features like ProMotion and 5G.
Wait, There’s More
Apple is reportedly improving its low-light photography feature in the iPhone 12 2020, adding in faster autofocus and improved image stabilization. Apparently, Smart HDR is also being upgraded to reduce noise in dark environments as well. The new LiDAR scanner may also be used to enhance autofocus and improve the accuracy of Portrait Mode photos. The telephoto zoom may also be getting an upgrade from 2x to 3x, allowing users to get closer to subjects without having to resort to digital zoom.
We’re also expecting some Face ID improvements beyond the smaller notch design. Max Weinbach reported that the Face ID might support a wider viewing angle to allow unlocking at more angles.
We hope these rumours pan out because if they do, it’d be pretty darn cool. Are you as excited as we are?
