Move over, Butterfly Keyboard. The new Magic Keyboard is finally here! At long last, the Apple Magic Keyboard has been added to both the new MacBook Air and the new iPad Pro lineup. All three products were revealed in an out-of-the-blue announcement by Apple yesterday!

This has been a loooong time coming, especially after Apple finally gave in to the people’s demand and replaced its butterfly keyboard with a scissor-switch keyboard in the 16-inch MacBook Pro last year. Well, I’m happy to announce that we’ve now officially put the whole keyboard fiasco behind us because the new Magic Keyboard is, quite literally, magic!

    The New iPad Pro Keyboard

I might have just been reminded of what falling in love is like because I am obsessed with any Apple wireless keyboard and mouse accessory for the iPad Pro. The Magic Keyboard is honestly everything you could ever want for your iPad. How? Where do I even begin?

    • For one, it makes your iPad float!
    • Two, it features the scissor-switch keyboard (!!).
    • Three, it has an actual trackpad.
    • Four, the keys are backlit.
    • And, five, did I mention that your iPad actually floats?

The new Magic Keyboard features a floating cantilever design that allows you to magnetically attach your iPad to the keyboard, delivering, in Apple’s own words, the “best typing experience ever on an iPad”. We’re tempted to agree, since it comes with a scissor-switch design, backlit keys, and 1mm travel, which is the recipe for a ‘fingers-flying-over-the-keyboard’ typing experience!

But that’s not all. This keyboard has brought us one step closer to making iPads the computers of the future because it also features a built-in trackpad, with gestures and a cursor. It is seriously “the biggest thing to happen since point and click”!

Another thing that I love about Apple’s Magic keyboard is that it actually folds into a protective case, which is super helpful when you’re travelling with your iPad. You also don’t have to buy a back cover separately, like you had to to with the earlier iPads. An unintentional swag factor that’s come about as part of the design is that the iPad looks a lot like a MacBook when folded into its case. I’m just loving the opportunity to show off with my new MacBook … err, I mean iPad.

Another perk? It has a USB-C port that allows you to charge your iPad Pro directly through the keyboard itself, so no hanging wires if you need to charge your iPad!

When Can We Get Our Hands On It?

While the 2020 iPad Pro will be available from 25 March, unfortunately, we won’t be getting the new Magic Keyboard until May. But hey, good things come to those who wait! It’ll cost ₹27,900 for the 11-inch iPad Pro models and about ₹31,900 for the 12.9-inch model, which, we have to say, is quite expensive as compared to the previous ones.

The wait is finally over for those who wanted the scissor-switch keyboard in their new device but couldn’t afford the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The new MacBook Air has now been officially released, and will also feature the much-loved Magic Keyboard. Hurray! Maybe it’s time for an upgrade?

Are you excited about the new iPad Pro keyboard? And what do you think, will it replace laptops like Apple so clearly intends? Tell us your thoughts and talk to us in the comments below!
