The coronavirus has been hitting Apple (and us Apple fans) hard. From iPhone production to the much-awaited Apple event that had been rumoured to take place in March, the global pandemic has been causing delay after delay in all of Apple’s plans. If you’ve been as disheartened due to all this as we have been, we have good news for you! Apple’s finally announced its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2020)  in a statement just yesterday, and it’ll take place in June like it usually does. Hurray!

    Why Are We So Excited?

For one, because we’re finally getting the scoop on iOS 14! 2020’s been filled with rumours about the new iOS upgrade, including a redesigned home screen and a feature for unsending iMessages, and all our questions will be answered at the WWDC 2020 event.

And it’s not just iOS 14 that they’ll be revealing! Last year, at the WWDC, Apple had announced its powerful new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR alongside, of course, various new features in the iOS, macOS, and other software upgrades. This year, we’re expecting new health features for Apple Watch, and changes in iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Plus, who knows what else Apple has planned to surprise us with?

“WWDC 2020 is going to be big,” Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, said. “I look forward to our developers getting their hands on the new code and interacting in entirely new ways with the Apple engineers building the technologies and frameworks that will shape the future across all Apple platforms.

    New Format For WWDC

Of course, due to all the virus concerns that caused them to reportedly cancel the March event, the WWDC 2020 will have a fresh online format that’ll virtually connect millions of developers around the world. And us, as well!

Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said, “The current health situation has required that we create a new WWDC 2020 format that delivers a full program with an online keynote and sessions, offering a great learning experience for our entire developer community all around the world.

More information on the online conference will be available in the coming weeks as we get closer to June on the Apple Developer website and app, and by email with the developers. Don’t worry, we’ll share all the details with you as soon as we get our hands on them so keep checking this space!
