AirPods Pro 3 Has A Batman 2 Problem

Apple’s new AirPods Pro 3 seem like a worthy upgrade—refined features, better performance, and of course, integrated with Apple Intelligence. But there’s one major thing missing that is too hard to ignore: the charging cable.

That’s right, if you want to charge your shiny new earbuds, you’ll need to either BYOC (bring your own cable), buy one separately, or rely on a wireless charger. In a move that feels increasingly IKEA-esque, Apple seems to be embracing an “assemble-it-yourself” philosophy—great overall hardware, except you’re expected to bring a few pieces of the puzzle yourself.

For many of you, this might not be a dealbreaker. Chances are, you’ve got a USB-C cable already lying around from other devices. In fact, Apple would probably argue that this is a step toward reducing unnecessary waste—one less cable in the world that’ll eventually be tossed into a landfill.

Still, it’s hard not to feel a little let down. While the environmental angle is understandable, there’s something mildly frustrating about paying a premium for a device and then having to supply your own basic charging method. Now I don’t know about you, but I personally feel like Apple should have included the charging cable in the entourage of the AirPods Pro 3. But that’s just me.

Speaking of things that should already have been here, where is that Batman 2 movie? You’d think with all that budget on hand, it should not be that difficult to release a movie in good time.

But unlike the Batman sequel, which we know will eventually arrive, whether Apple will bring back the charging cable with the AirPods Pro 3 or future models remains a mystery. They pulled the headphone jack from the iPhones. So we know, they are capable of a massacre like that. What’s next, pulling the charging port from the AirPods?
