Apple’s New $25 Million Office in India

In the last six months or so, there have been a lot of developments with regards to Apple’s establishment and growth in India. We are pleased to report another one that is sure to make you grin with joy! – A brand new Apple India Office!

Apple has announced that it is planning to invest $25 million into building a new office in India.

Apple is no stranger to building huge offices. It’s own new headquarter is a sight to behold. Take a look for yourself.

What Apple is planning to build in Hyderabad might not be as magnificent as this building you just saw, but we have great expectations of it, nonetheless. A whopping 25 million dollars can build one hell of an office, don’t you think?

The Economic Times has estimated that the construction of the building will provide employment for about 4,500 people over the next three years.

We’ve been investing to expand our operations in India and are thrilled to have passionate customers and a vibrant developer community across the country,” an Apple spokesperson told the newspaper.

Once completed, the new office will look to house around 150 permanent employees. Apple has also mentioned that the building will have a section dedicated to the “workings of our contractors”. We’re not entirely sure what that means, but we’ll hazard a guess that it refers to the research facility.

Over the past months, we’ve seen the competition rising among Google, Microsoft and Apple to capture the rapidly growing Indian market. Tim Cook himself has been quoted as saying, “During hard times like now, it provides an opportunity to invest in newer markets such as India where there are long-term prospects“.

This announcement by Apple can also be viewed in direct relation to that growing competition. We don’t think it’s a coincidence that Apple announced a new office just days after Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that they plan to build South Asia’s biggest campus in India over the next few years!

Even the cities they’ve chosen are the same: Hyderabad!!

Apple’s centre will occupy 250,000 square feet in Tishman Speyer’s WaveRock facility in the city’s IT corridor. The work is set to start in the second half of 2016.

Jayesh Ranjan, the IT secretary of Telangana, told ET while confirming the details of Apple’s investment that “MoU will be signed after some approvals come.

We know that India is a largely red tape economy. The unnecessarily cumbersome ups and downs of our bureaucracy are sure to slow the process down. But that will not dampen our happy Apple spirits. This is a wonderful news, and we look forward to the new office with bated breath!!
