So, folks! The September 10 Apple event wrapped up successfully. And that’s left us with quite a few things to talk about. True to what was expected, there was much excitement and awe, as it always is with any Apple event. Among all the things hinted and revealed, the much speculated iPhone 11 launch was one of them. This new iPhone is a successor to the iPhone XR, and in fact, features the same 6.1-inch LCD display and overall design. So, what’s changed?

Well, quite a few specs have received a next-level upgrade. Can’t contain your curiosity about this all-new iPhone? We get your excitement, so let’s dive right into all that you need to know about this updated model of iPhone XR.

Judging a Book by its Cover – Design and Colors

The overall design and the 6.1-inch Liquid Retina display remains the same as its 2018 predecessor, iPhone XR. But wait! This model will have a glass back with a Lightning connector at the bottom. Sounds nice? Pretty sure it looks gorgeous too. However, as Tim Cook and Co still refuse to give up on the notch, you will see it on the top of the screen. They did decide to drop the headphone port though, so say goodbye to the 3.5mm headphone jack. Weighing in at 194grams, the dimensions are 150.9mm x 75.7mm x 8.3mm. What a light baby.

The iPhone 11 also has an IP68 rating! And what does that mean? Well, in layman terms, it has got the highest rating for both dust and water resistance. So, caught in an accidental thunderstorm? Or dived off a cliff with your iPhone in your pockets? Pfft! You’d be too busy worrying about other things because these instances would hardly make you worry about this fabulous gadget.

Now, that’s not all. Of course, it isn’t. This is just the beginning, bois. So, let’s talk colors! We’ve already speculated time and again about all the possible new colors that the iPhone 11 will be available in. And true to all the rumors, be ready to see the new iPhone in their signature white and black, yellow, purple, green, and product red. Now, our phones will make up for the lack of color in our lives.

The Shutterbugs’ Interest – The Mega Camera Bump

The rumors of the superior camera qualities in the new iPhone were all that we heard and talked about. And it comes as no surprise that the speculations were all based in reality. But why is the camera such a hype? Well, considering that iPhone 11 is a ‘cheap’ model, it’s a big deal for it to feature a dual lens. It boasts of a 12MP wide camera with a 26mm lens and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. And by ultra-wide, they mean a 120-degree field of view. Like wow, sure sounds like an upgrade of an Apple scale.

Apart from that, They’ve also reintroduced Night Mode for better pictures in low light conditions. No more hazy pictures of the lone Chinese lantern in the sky? Yeah, I’m down for that! Or in case you want to make a stunning video instead, you have that option as well. The new iPhone 11 comes with 4K video recording, slow and time-lapse.

Tim Cook and co have full faith in their camera quality too! They made quite the claim that it will be the “highest quality video recording in a smartphone”. Oh well, that remains to be seen as we’ll see if their claims hold true.

But all this apart, what broke the internet during the Apple event was the introduction of ‘Slofi’; one of the best new features on iPhone 11. The Twitterati were quick to react and memes of ‘Slofi’ swamped Twitter and almost every other social media platform. While a few were mildly okay with the idea, most just went NOPE.

So what exactly is a ‘Slofi’?

It’s basically slow-motion + selfie = slofi. The selfie camera is a 12MP TrueDepth camera with 4k video recording. And that means you can take slow-motion selfies at 120fps.

Yeah, I’m not sure if I want to capture myself trying to say hello in the most painfully unflattering manner. It seems like it’s a strong nope from me too but yeah, we’ll see about that.

    Counting Hours – Battery Life

Okay, so Apple does this thing where they never disclose the battery specs, right? Well, I understand, not everyone is eager to talk about things they’re not good at. So while they haven’t revealed any exact numbers, they have told us that it’ll last an hour longer than iPhone XR’s battery life. Now, the 2018 model has a 2,942 mAh battery, which means that iPhone 11 battery will be higher than that. How much higher? We’d also like to know the answer to that, but I guess we’ll have to make do with just this much information.

It’s All About the Speed – Processor

Unlike the models of 2018 which ran on A12 Bionic chip, iPhone 11 will have the A13 Bionic chip. During the launch event, Apple claimed that “the A13 Bionic is the fastest CPU ever in a smartphone,” as well as “the fastest GPU in a smartphone”. They also claimed that the chip gives extra battery life and boosts performance up to 20%.

Now, that seems like a stretch, but let’s have some faith!

    Let’s Talk Money- Price

The iPhone will be available in three variants, depending n their storage capacity. They’ll be available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB and will be available starting from Rs.64,900.

And to answer the burning question, iPhone 11 will launch in India on 27 September.

Now that you’re equipped with the information, does your heart desire a shiny new iPhone 11? Is it calling out to you yet? Tell us in the comments!
