Apple has announced a major expansion of its Apple Podcasts app by introducing an enhanced video podcast experience that will roll out this spring with the public launch of iOS 26.4.
With this update, video episodes can be viewed directly in the Apple Podcasts app and expanded into a horizontal full-screen layout. Users will now be able to seamlessly switch between watching and listening to a podcast, significantly simplifying the experience and simultaneously defying its very definition (but who am I to judge!).
Listeners, or rather viewers, will also have the option to download video episodes for offline viewing, with automatic quality adjustments ensuring smooth playback across different network speeds.
For creators, however, the shift to video brings new opportunities. Apple’s implementation allows podcast hosts to maintain full control over their content and monetisation options, including the ability to dynamically insert video ads and sponsorship segments—helping them generate revenue.
The update will be available on iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro, and through Apple Podcasts on the web.
