In their recent keynote event, Apple announced Apple TV Plus, their future streaming service that’s set to hit the market in the autumn of 2019. And let’s say that being the king of the gadget world, Apple’s left no stone unturned for their venture into the streaming industry.

With artists like Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Anniston, Steven Spielberg, Octavia Spenser, Jason Momoa, Steve Carell, etc. on board, all of us already have our hopes shooting through the roof. But now as details emerge of their collaboration with actual royalty, we’re getting short of breath and sinking into our best curtsies in anticipation.

    The Royal Duo

It’s happening, folks! The HRH Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey, a woman who is royalty too in her own right, are teaming up to create an Apple TV plus series. Ms. Winfrey did hint at the series being a thing back in March during the ‘Showtime’ event. But we never would have imagined something like this!

Ms. Winfrey basically spoke about two docu-series about mental-health issues that she’s working on for the streaming service. She teased the audience by saying “If we do our jobs right, we’re going to replace shame, and we’re going to replace stigma, with wisdom and some compassion and with honestly.” Sounds heartwarming, doesn’t it? And honestly, if you want someone talking to about mental illness, it’s Oprah!

    The Prince Chimes In

But while Oprah got the first word in, it fell upon HRH Prince Harry to deliver the big news. And that’s exactly what he did through a simple post made from the official ‘sussexroyal’ Instagram page. The post comprised of a quote on mental health by Prince Harry himself and is accompanied by a caption containing details about the show. It talks about how the Duke and Ms. Winfrey are partners, co-creators, as well as executive producers for an Apple TV plus series launching in 2020. The documentary is set to have multiple parts and talks about several aspects regarding mental health.

What sets it apart from all the other content about mental health that exists out there is how proactive it is being portrayed to be. With a focus on “both mental illness and mental wellness, inspiring viewers to have an honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces, and how to equip ourselves with the tools to not simply survive, but to thrive,” it might just be the positivity we need in our lives.

Is it Great or Is it Great?

Well, it’s pretty great for three reasons. Firstly, having a show in their Apple TV plus series list that boasts such names would greatly help them give Netflix and Amazon solid competition. Secondly, this docu-series might be the push the conversation about mental health needs to enter the limelight. And thirdly, I’m just selfish and want this to be a thing. So, there you have it, three reasons why I personally believe that this show would be a gift to humanity. Do I want your opinion on this? Meh, not really, cause I’ve already got my ice-cream and blankets ready for next year! Toodles, poodles.
