Gone are the days when only your mom could call you out on your sleeping habits. Now, your Apple Watch will also be quietly judging your sleep habits and then serving you a score on top of it as evidence.
What is this SleepScore app you ask? Well, it is Apple’s new scheme to make your Apple Watch a passive-aggressive sleep coach because nothing says “good morning” like a report card from your watch.
Apple says that the SleepScore app features a “patented, non-contact, sonar sleep tracker technology” that has the ability to measure your sleep from your nightstand, with personalized actionable advice, sleep sounds, smart alarm, sleep cycle analysis, and more. Apparently, it can track your “every move and breath to measure each phase of your sleep” (Apple’s words, not mine). Creepy, right? Hey, Siri! Play “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell.

You’ll also get actionable insights on how to improve your sleep, which, to be fair, is actually a great feature for anyone dealing with sleeping disorders or just someone trying to get their circadian rhythm back on track. So what if the app is slightly stalker-ish in nature? If it gets you 8 hours and fewer existential crises at 3 a.m., it is worth the watch watching you.
Good night, sleep tight, and let your Apple Watch judge you tonight!
