    Foldable iPhone Features: A Compilation

    Spread the word

Every year for the past few years, rumours of a foldable iPhone surfaced, only to disappear just as quickly. Leaks came and went, speculation peaked and fizzled out, and Apple stayed characteristically silent.

But now, things finally seem to be changing. 2026 is shaping up to be the year when we finally get to witness the marvel that is the foldable iPhone.

As expected with any Apple product, this iPhone is already generating plenty of leaks and speculations. Here’s a closer look at the rumoured features of the foldable iPhone doing the rounds right now.

    Book-Style Fold With Dual Screens

The foldable iPhone is expected to look like a small iPad. When closed, the device could use a cover screen of around 5.5 inches, while unfolding would reveal a larger inner display close to 7.8 inches. This dual-screen setup promises a lot more space for apps, multitasking, and media—all while keeping the device portable.

Personally, I’m not very sold on the idea of phones being this big. It seems like we have lost the plot on what “mobile” means. However, I’ll keep my judgements reserved until the product actually comes out.

    Crease-Free Display and Slim Profile

One of the biggest issues with existing foldables is the visible crease where the screen bends. Rumours suggest that Apple’s version could minimise that crease dramatically—or even eliminate it—using new materials and engineering. There’s also talk of the phone being surprisingly thin when unfolded, potentially thinner than many current flagship phones out there.

Apple did do wonders with the iPhone Air this year (at least design-wise) and so I wouldn’t be surprised if they manage to get the thinness just right.

    No Compromises on the Cameras

Apple isn’t likely to skimp on photography, even in a foldable form. Leaks point to a multi-camera setup with dual rear cameras and possibly a single punch-hole camera for the inner screens. This kind of arrangement would let you take photos whether the iPhone is folded or unfolded—and could help keep the foldable’s imaging prowess on par with other premium iPhones.

    iPhone Air-Style Camera Plateau

Apparently, the back of the device will feature an ‌iPhone‌ Air-style camera plateau on the left side, containing two horizontally arranged cameras, the microphone, and the flash. Although unlike the iPhone Air, the camera plateau is going to be completely black and won’t match the colour of the device’s body. The plateau is also going to be a little smaller in size than usual.

No Face ID, Hello Touch ID?

Interestingly, the buzz around the authentication system suggests Apple could move away from Face ID on this model, replacing it with a side-mounted Touch ID sensor. That choice might come down to internal space constraints and design priorities when balancing the hinge, displays, and battery.

    Power Under the Hood

Beyond the screens, leaks hint that the foldable iPhone will have Apple’s next-generation A20 chip built on a cutting-edge process, alongside Apple’s own C2 modem for fast connectivity. Rumours even suggest a significant bump in battery size—potentially the largest in any iPhone yet—to keep all that screen real estate powered throughout the day.

    Colour Options

The only “confirmed” colour option is said to be white, but a single additional colour is also expected to be available upon launch, giving customers just two choices.

Nothing here is official, just the collective picture painted by leaks, supply chain chatter, and analyst predictions. But if even half of the features of the foldable iPhone turn out to be real, Apple’s first entry into the foldable space could be ambitious, premium, and—most importantly—very different from anything the brand has offered before.
