For years now, the foldable iPhone has been talked about like it’s some kind of prophecy. Every few months, new leaks and reports would pop up, promising that this would be the year Apple finally does it. Honestly, after a while, it started to sound less like a real product and more like a myth. But now, things are starting to feel different.

Many major news outlets are reporting that Apple is very likely to launch a foldable iPhone next year during its fall event. At this point, it’s pretty much confirmed that something foldable is coming. That said, I’m still a little skeptical. Until I actually see it in front of my eyes—on stage, being folded and unfolded—I’m not fully convinced.
Even if we do catch a glimpse of the foldable iPhone next year, there’s a good chance most of us won’t be able to buy it right away. According to a report by a well-known Apple market analyst, the device may face serious supply shortages. In fact, it’s possible that many people won’t be able to get their hands on it until the year after its announcement!
The reason for this is fairly simple: these phones are taking a long time to develop. Apple is reportedly being extremely careful with performance, durability, and the overall engineering of the device—especially the hinge. Foldable phones are complicated, and Apple is known for taking its time to get things right rather than rushing a product out.
To be honest, that’s fair. If there’s one thing we can be sure about, it’s that the foldable iPhone is going to be expensive. In fact, very expensive. And if people are paying that much, they would surely expect the phone to function like an absolute dream. No creases, no glitches, no drama. Although, knowing the Apple fan club, they’ll probably find a way to defend it no matter how it performs.
Anyway, my fingers are crossed. Let’s see if next year is finally the year the foldable iPhone steps out of legends and into reality.
