Whenever Apple makes a new product announcement, we always wonder about its cost in India, since only the US prices are revealed at the event. A simple conversion of the announced dollar amount to INR doesn’t work because the actual prices in India tend to be on the higher side.
As you must know, yesterday Apple held an event to announce the new iPhone SE and the smaller iPad Pro 9.7 inch . So how do you find out the Indian prices of these products? Worry not! We’ve got them compiled for you. Read on …
iPhone SE
Launch date
iPhone SE will debut in 12 countries on March 31. Sadly India doesn’t make it to this list. No reason to fret, though. It won’t be a long wait for us since iPhone SE is coming to India in early April.
Price
The starting price for the iPhone SE (16GB model) in India is Rs. 39,000. We don’t have a confirmation of the cost of the 64GB model, but it’s likely to be around Rs. 45,000.
Accessories
Apple also announced the prices of its official accessories for iPhone SE:
Apple leather cases will come in 2 colours – Black and Midnight Blue – and are priced at Rs. 2,900.
The official Lightning Docks will be available for Rs. 3,700.
Our Impressions
We are happy that iPhone SE is coming to India within a fortnight of its launch, but the price is a bummer. We were expecting a starting price of Rs. 30,000, especially since the price of iPhone 5S was reduced to Rs. 21,000. Hopefully, the trend of discounts and price cuts by Apple in India will continue and we will get a price correction within a couple of months.
iPad Pro (9.7 inches)
Launch date
Just like the iPhone SE, the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro is launching in India in April. The exact date hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s likely to be in the first half of the month.
Price
The base model (32GB Wifi only) is priced at Rs 49,900
32GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model will be available at Rs 61,900
There will also be 128GB and the new 256GB models, but their prices aren’t confirmed as of now.
Accessories
As you know, the real power of the iPad Pro lies in using it with its accessories. So, how much do the Apple Pencil and Covers costs? Here’s the list:
Apple Pencil: Rs 8,600
Smart Keyboard: Rs 13,900
Polyurethane iPad Pro Smart Cover: Rs. 3,700
Silicone Cases: Rs. 5,200
Our Impressions
We are excited about the smaller iPad Pro. It’s true that the minimum package cost (32GB Wifi only iPad + Pencil + Smart Cover) adds up to a hefty amount of Rs. 72,400. But you need to remember that it’s a pro device. For casual users, the iPad Air 2 (which will soon be getting a price cut from its current tag of Rs. 35,000) is an ideal choice.

Apple also announced some new adapters for iOS devices and MacBook. Following is the list and their respective prices in India:

Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adaptor: Rs. 2,900
Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter: Rs. 4,100
Lightning to USB-C Cable (1 metre): Rs. 2,300
