The popular UK-based phone case brand, Mous, decided to prove their product’s durability by putting it to the ultimate test. This time they took the challenge of throwing a brand-new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air off a 250–metre dam in Switzerland. Let’s just say that they’ve yet again raised the bar really high or rather dropped it really low!
The stunt took place at the Mauvoisin Dam, one of the tallest in Europe. In what felt like part science experiment, part Mission Impossible movie, Mous team members launched the iPhone Pro, wrapped in one of their Limitless iPhone cases, into the abyss. The phone hit the ground—and survived. Not a scratch, no cracked camera lens, or dent in the body.
However the team didn’t stop there. Just to double down on the madness, they also dropped the new iPhone Air clad in their armour. The poor phone even took an extra hit on a railing mid-fall before landing, but still managed to survive completely fine. Also, is anyone else starting to feel bad for the iPhone Air? Every other reviewer has been throwing the phone left, right, and centre to test the phone’s durability since its launch. Like, give it a break, people (not literally)!
Now where were we? Yes, Mous.
Why the theatrics you ask? Well, it is not their first rodeo. The brand has always been very adventurous about proving that their cases can handle real-world chaos—drops, slips, and the occasional heart-stopping “oops” moments. But a 250-meter plunge is extreme, even by their standards. Not just extreme, it’s dam-n impressive (I’ll see myself out).
In an age where the price of iPhones is reaching for the sky with every new model, the consumers need tough and long-lasting iPhone cases—so that they don’t get a panic attack every time their phones slide off a chair or fall on the ground. And watching one iPhone take a free-fall from a 250-metre high dam and walk away unscathed is a decent enough metric for durability for most of us, I think.
So, if you’re a clumsy person or a habitual phone dropper like me, Mous has made a very compelling case for you and your iPhone. Literally.
