It has been more than a week since Apple CEO Tim Cook announced he is gay, yet the world can’t get enough of him. In the last week of October, Cook wrote an essay for Businessweek acknowledging his sexual orientation in the hope of helping those who themselves were facing an identity crisis. Turns out, Cook has struck the right cord!

From former POTUS Bill Clinton and Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella to mogul Richard Branson and most recently, co-founder of PayPal Peter Thiel – a gay himself, a lot of people have taken to social networking sites to sing praises and express their respect for Cook.

Similarly, various Fortune 500 executives  such as Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs, HSBC USA’s Pat Burke and Jacques Brand of Deutsche Bank North America, to name a few, saluted Cook’s “selfless” move of paving way for the LGBT community.

In an excerpt of his article, Cook mentioned that being

instilled a deeper sense of understanding about the minority and that he is a stronger person – a quality necessary when running an enterprise like Apple. He also mentioned USA’s tolerant behaviour towards homosexuality – an issue of concern in most parts of the world, including India.

While this revelation has positioned Apple in a more favourable spot than before, it has definitely made Cook a relatable CEO. By the way, he is also the first Fortune 500 CEO to step out of the closet. Bravo Cook, Bravo!
