Gather around people, it’s that time of the year again! Timmy is here, dressed up as Santa to bring an early Christmas for Apple fans worldwide.

Apple’s Wonderlust event played out as usual – a new iPhone version, its Pro variant, and a couple of Apple Watches. Timmy went all out on this presentation’s visual appeal, and I mean all out. It was like watching a Marvel movie (the earlier ones, not the new stuff they are pushing out now). One might even say it’s the effects that stole the show.

I could talk about the quality of the video production all day, but enough of beating around the bush. Let’s jump straight into the iPhone 15 and the Plus variant.

iPhone 15 is almost like a new device, which takes inspiration and some parts from its predecessor and reaches the Moon with it. And the iPhone 15 Plus is like a twin of the base 15, just bigger. What am I talking about? I am glad you asked.

    Looks? Great!

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus case is all aerospace-grade Aluminum with an awesome textured matte finish. Plus, a ceramic shield in the front that is said to be tougher than any other smartphone glass. You can call it robust, but that would be an understatement. There are multiple color options, too! The presentation showed all the various hues in a Power Rangers-like pose: black, blue, green, yellow, and pink.

Apple has taken a sleek approach to the design. The edges with their brushed pattern seem very comfortable to hold. Add to that the high-def 6.1-inch (and 6.7-inch for iPhone 15 Plus) Super Retina XDR display with 2000 nits brightness and Dolby Vision support, and the new flagship becomes very easy on the eyes (get it?)

    A Pro-Esque Vision!

Talking of looks, Tim changed the camera system in the device, too. The sensor is the same as the iPhone 14 Pro, a 48 mp lens with 1x and 2x zoom and 0.5 ultrawide, but it’s the portrait mode that stands out. A synthetic bokeh effect, automatic implementation when using the main camera, and, of course, the software has also been upgraded. They call it ‘Computational Photography.’ It uses the pixels of the sensor to balance resolution and light to give out the highest level of detail. With so much technology for backseat driving, I could take amazing snaps (see, even the lingo has started to flow right for me!)

    Smarter, Better, Faster

Of course, Timmy has also buffed up the phone’s performance. Fashioned with the latest A16 Bionic chip, the new phone runs exactly as I titled this section – smarter, better, and so much faster! I know, I know, it’s the same chip as the 14 Pro version, but that’s not all the iPhone 15 has to offer.

A Trip To The Dynamic Island

The Dynamic Island from iPhone 14 Pro is now here, too. It binds with other apps and acts like an all-in-one information provider. Need to know when your flight is boarding? Go dynamic! Want to see where your weekend food order is? Go dynamic! Looking to access your running playlist? GO DYNAMIC!!! And to power this convenient experience, an all-day battery life is also housed within, so you can Apple all day long!

There was more stuff, too—better connectivity, noise reduction during calls, Ultra-Wideband chip, satellite emergency assistance, etc., etc. But the cherry on top was the return of the prodigal son. Yup, USB type C is here! Yaaaaaay! No more buying a lightning port charger! Wonder what Tim will bring out the next time. I say let him Cook!

All said and done, Wonderlust was fairly satisfying for me (still can’t believe USB C is here 🎉). But it’s all virtual right now. The real fun will begin on September 22, 2023, when the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus launch in the stores at the Apple-like price tag of Rs 79,900 and Rs 89,900, respectively. Will you upgrade?
