Hey Siri, I have a question for Team Applesutra

Thank You We’ll get back to you faster that you can say iPhone 12 Pro Max!

    iOS 14 Bluetooth

Have You Seen This Cool New Bluetooth Feature in iOS 14.4?

    Spread the word

Apple is constantly introducing new features via OTA (Over The Air) iOS/iPadOS upgrades for iPhones and iPads. The latest version 14.4 update brings an option to select the correct category of a Bluetooth device. It’s the first time Apple has introduced a specific classification for connected or known Bluetooth devices.

iPhone/iPad users can choose from one of the five options: Car Stereo, Headphone, Hearing Aid, Speaker, and Other. I am sure you must be wondering, why do we need to specify and categorise BT devices?

When you specify a device to its correct category, Apple says iOS/iPadOS can send appropriate notifications to say your Car Stereo system and maintain optimal audio levels on connected devices. For instance, you won’t hear audio that’s too loud while wearing headphones or too low while connected to an external speaker.

While iOS can automatically identify Apple’s inherent Bluetooth devices like the AirPods, including the Pro and Max models. iOS can determine some car stereo devices automatically, but it’s best to check the appropriate category for your connected/known devices.

Classifying a device is simple and doesn’t take long, similar to all functionalities of iOS. Go through the following steps:

    1. Launch Settings
    2. Select Bluetooth
    3. Tap the (i) icon next to the name of your device
    4. Tap Device Type
    5. Select the correct option from one of the five options

Enjoy your new-found iPhone/iPad feature. Don’t forget to boast about it to your friends.
