Choosing the Wired Lanes of EarPods

It’s been a while since Apple users moved on from wired EarPods to wireless AirPods, mainly because of the hassles like wires getting caught on random hooks, one side suddenly dying, or the inevitable tangled mess in your pocket that takes ages to undo. While there might be endless reasons to switch, EarPods have still been my go-to earphones for a long time.

Apart from Apple EarPods’ sound quality, the comfort they offer is one of the main reasons I prefer them over any other earphones. And obviously, the old school and retro look it brings to the table is always welcome. Its latest version, the EarPods (USB-C), features even better audio quality and comfort than the Lightning model.

Moving on, the EarPods cost around ₹ 1,600, and the Lightning jack connector adds another ₹ 900 (if you are still using an older iPhone), making the total seem a little pricey. However, Apple EarPods’ sound quality and durability justify their price tag, as they are still way better than what companies like Skullcandy offer at the same price point or even higher. And when compared to the prices of the AirPods series, I prefer the wired earphones any day (except when I’m at the gym).

I’m the kind of person who tends to forget almost everything, so it’s no surprise that I often forget to charge my wireless buds, hence another reason why I prefer sticking to wired earphones.

And last but not least, the mic! The microphone Apple offers is really solid and has impressive call quality, but it has zero noise isolation. Which means if I’m on a call while cooking, cleaning, or walking through a windy street, the poor person on the other end gets the full surround-sound experience of my chaos.

All in all, the Apple EarPods have their own share of shortcomings—but who’s perfect anyway! As long as I manage to get them untangled, I honestly don’t see myself letting these EarPods go anytime soon.
