In our tech world, three things are inevitable – death, taxes, and rumours of Apple products. Case in point being the influx of iPhone 18 series rumours, merely a couple of months after the iPhone 17 series launch. Let’s see what the grapevine is telling us this time.
Three Models, Similar Designs
Some early reports indicate that Apple will stick to the tried and tested combination of standard iPhone 18 alongside its two Pro variants.
In terms of design, no major changes are expected. The iPhone 18 lineup is rumoured to resemble the current iPhone 17 series. The standard model will likely retain the smaller camera bump seen on the iPhone 17, while the Pro models are expected to feature the broader raised camera platform.
Display sizes are also expected to stay the same with 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch options carrying over to the new generation.
Variable Aperture
The hottest iPhone 18 series rumour is that the iPhone 18 Pro series will have a camera with a mechanically adjustable aperture like DSLR cameras. This would give users control over background blurring, primarily enabling them to keep the foreground and background sharp. It is still not clear if this feature will be seen in both the Pro and Pro Max variants, or just the latter.
Another change for both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max is that they might feature telephoto lenses with larger apertures for sharper pictures in low-light conditions.
Dynamic Island Revamp
Some iPhone 18 series rumours indicate that Apple could reduce the size of the Dynamic Island. A couple of sources are even hinting at a pinhole-style cutout for the front camera with under-screen Face ID (though it looks unlikely).
Camera Control Redesign
An interesting leak points towards a redesigned Camera Control button. It might shift towards pressure-sensitive functionality instead of the current swipe-based actions. This will offer more precise control for photography and videography.
Apart from the above-mentioned rumours, there are a few additional leaks surrounding the iPhone 18 lineup which can be considered more of educated guesses. For example, reports claim that Apple will equip the standard models with the new A20 chip, while the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to feature the more powerful A20 Pro. Colour options may also expand, with fresh shades like green and purple reportedly in the mix, though the jury seems to be out when it comes to classic black.
Even with so many leaks circulating already, it’s far too early to know which iPhone 18 series rumours will actually come true. As always, some predictions may hit the mark while others could miss entirely. For now, it is best to be patient. I mean people are still waiting to get deliveries of their iPhone 17 Pro models, so we can give next year’s model a bit of a rest for now.
