After years of waiting and endless speculation about a foldable iPhone, it finally seemed like Apple would make it a reality this year. And just when we were getting used to the idea of one foldable device, rumours suggest we might be in for not one, but two different kinds of foldable tech from Apple soon.
As per industry reports, Apple’s first attempt at a foldable iPhone is going to be a book-style device with a large, tablet-like display, designed to go head-to-head with Samsung’s foldables. But it appears that the tech giant is not stopping just there. It is very possible that a lot more is on the way.
Drumrolls please!!!
We might be getting a flip iPhone very soon!
Back-to-back design innovations from Apple? Shocking, right? Are we in an alternate dimension?
Apparently, this clamshell-style flip iPhone would be a smaller, vertical-folding device, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip—a more compact alternative to the larger design of the foldable. It looks like Apple has decided to outsource its inspiration for iPhone designs directly from its competitors!
However, this flip iPhone is still in the exploratory stages (at least rumour-wise) and far from guaranteed—Apple’s next steps will likely depend on how well its first foldable iPhone performs.
No matter what happens, one thing’s clear: Apple isn’t exactly dodging the “copying Android” claims anytime soon. However, if the rumours do turn out to be true, let’s just hope they don’t do us dirty like they did with the original foldable iPhone—leaving us hanging for years until it finally makes an appearance.
