Even though Apple is months away from officially unveiling the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, the leaks and rumour around it are already in full swing. From leaked accessory images and insider claims on social media, speculation around Apple’s next premium iPhone has started building momentum much earlier than expected. And to no one’s surprise, the most talked about rumours are the ones about its colour options.
Among the biggest highlights from recent leaks is Apple’s possible focus on bold colours, exclusively for the Pro lineup. Again, this should hardly come as a surprise—they always save the best for the most expensive ones (although I wouldn’t call the Cosmic Orange “best” colour, but maybe that’s just me).
According to multiple recent reports, Apple could be preparing a fresh set of hues for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max and this time there’s an interesting shade in the lineup. Apparently, a brand-new “Dark Cherry” shade option is being designed which is being described as a deep wine-inspired red. If this is indeed true, it’s rather funny that they are choosing a cherry red shade for an Apple.
Another colour that has repeatedly surfaced in leaks is a lighter blue finish, reportedly similar to the Sierra Blue and Mist Blue shades Apple fans loved in earlier iPhone generations. Alongside that, Silver is expected to continue as the classic, safe choice in the lineup, while Dark Gray could replace the traditional black that Apple offered on its Pro devices until last year.
Interestingly, some rumours now suggest that Apple may once again skip a true black version for the iPhone 18 Pro series altogether. Although many fans were upset about this decision last year as well, it’s not like Apple listens to these complaints so there’s indeed a possibility of the black colour being a no-show again. What has sparked this recent disdain for black in the Apple design room is beyond me. If sophistication and premium is the vibe they are going for, there’s really nothing better than the classic black shade. It almost seems like some pundit has fed them superstition about the black colour being a bad omen.
Of course, it is still far too early to treat any of these leaks as final because these same reports (or rumours) also suggest that Apple is currently testing multiple finishes internally, and the company could still make changes before mass production begins. However, if the rumours are truly accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup could end up being a really remarkable colourful offering from Apple. Personally, I’m quite excited for “Dark Cherry”—let’s hope that it makes the final cut!
