The recent release of the HomePod firmware that was accidentally made public by Apple is proving to be a goldmine of information. Apparently, it replicates the codes that were intended for “iPhone 8”. Apple fans all across the world as well as users of iPhone in India are very excited to find out what to anticipate in the next big thing from the tech giant.

We got to learn that it is likely to support the ultra-slow-motion video capture of 240fps at 1080p and more. Compared to the current 720p of iPhone7, it is going to be a major upgrade. A few bits of information regarding the operation of the iPhone 8’s virtual home button can also be analysed now especially about the app and user interaction.

Couple of days back app developer, Steven Troughton Smith took to Twitter to discuss how in all likelihood iOS will handle “iPhone 8” screen real-estate dedicated to digital home button interface. In the crux, the home button area will be thought of as a periphery UI that would expand or maximise and would show or hide a home button indicator as required, according to him.

Additionally, the tab bars would extend under the home button UI while the API would include no options to change the asset colours. The latter detail suggests that Apple plans to use a high contrast home button indicator that would work with a variety of backgrounds, posts Troughton Smith.

The home button area would be minimised while you play a full-screen video, most probably in a dynamic fashion that would be similar to hiding content controls in a video player. Certain assets already operate in this manner in iOS; for example, the bottom toolbar of Safari is automatically collapsing while performing scroll gestures.

However, we will have to wait to see how the video will be rendered in full screen on the rumoured OLED display. The code that was unveiled last month points towards the similar predictions of hardware specifications of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

According to Kuo a 5.8 inch, 2,800 by 1,242-pixel display without a home button, 5.1 inches of which would be used by the apps can be expected. While Troughton Smith claims, if the function area minimises the full-screen video would be rendered at an unusually wide or tall aspects ratio.

He further goes on to say that there is no evidence that Apple will move other UI elements like the toolbars into the functional area. According to previous predictions that iPhone 8 would offload individual buttons to the semi-persistent room to streamline the user interaction or save space.

The unintentional distribution of Apple’s HomePod firmware has yielded the best look at the company’s forthcoming flagship handset. The previous discoveries consisted a description of the phone’s revealing bezel-less design with the sensor notch, new machine learning-powered camera, support for the 4K video capture and more.

Developers have also unearthed proofs that suggest iPhone 8 will use facial recognition hardware to validate payments. It will certainly be a significant step away from the conventional Touch ID fingerprint technology.

With the increasing popularity of Apple devices, users of iPhone in India also eagerly await the launch of the forthcoming handset.
