It’s been over a year since Apple quietly discontinued the iPhone mini, and honestly, I’m still a little heartbroken. The iPhone 13 mini was the last of its kind—a tiny, adorable little phone that fit perfectly in your hand and slid effortlessly into your pocket. It was what users wished the iPhone Air would be—but alas! Apple’s decision to phase it out wasn’t exactly surprising (money matters!), but it still feels like a big loss for those of us who appreciated the smaller things in tech.
The reason behind the mini’s demise is, as usual, business. Sales numbers for the 12 mini and 13 mini were lower than Apple had hoped. People, it seems, just prefer bigger screens—the kind that practically double as tablets. A smaller body also meant a smaller battery, which was a deal-breaker for some. So, when the iPhone 14 lineup arrived, the mini quietly slipped away, replaced by the larger “Plus” model.
But what a shame that is. The iPhone mini was a cute little powerhouse—fast, capable, and elegant. It packed almost all the same features as its bigger colleagues at a friendlier price point. The battery, while not massive, was perfectly fine for a day’s use if you weren’t glued to your phone 24×7. It was the kind of phone that reminded you what mobile actually means—something you can carry easily, use one-handed, and not fear dropping because it doesn’t stick out of your grip. Phones these days barely fit in my palm (granted, I have smaller hands than most, but still)—do we really need screens this big? If you want that much display real estate, there’s always a tablet or laptop waiting.Sadly, Apple stopped selling the iPhone mini officially last year. You might still find it floating around on Amazon or other third-party sites, but buying one now could be a bit of a gamble. Give it a few more months, and even those will vanish from stock. However, it will remain forever in the hearts of people who loved it, because it did not take much space!
