Biggest Difference Between iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 (It’s not the Camera)

The name Apple is synonymous with innovation. The company always strives to create something new for its customers. So it does not come as a surprise when its newest version iPhone 7 Plus is one step ahead in technology.

So what is it that makes this model better than its predecessor? Well, it is not the camera.

When iPhone 7 was launched, the market was flooded with rumors that iPhone 7 Plus would come with a 3GB RAM as opposed to the 2GB on the iPhone 6S range. But when iPhone 7 Plus was launched, Apple did not mention any such RAM changes; so we assumed there weren’t any. How wrong we were!

The new Geekbench listing for iPhone 7 Plus that was posted after the launch talks about the phone having 3GB RAM and two of the highest performance cores in the A10 Fusion processor. It is a killer combination because it leads to a single-core score of 3233 and a multi-core result of 5363. It is a significant improvement over the iPhone 6 series, which in the tests conducted by Techradar scored a decent multi-core score of 4309.

So, it won’t be an understatement to say that the new iPhone 7 Plus is better than all its predecessors, and certainly has the edge over the standard iPhone 7 too.

Now, you may wonder why Apple didn’t talk about the RAM in iPhone 7 Plus. Well, that’s a question for the company to answer. But then again, Apple hardly ever goes into details about the RAM, so we needn’t be that surprised at this oversight.

Apart from the RAM, Apple has also incorporated three new features in its new iPhones

    • It is now dust and water resistance
    • Comes fitted with stereo speakers
    • And is missing the 3.5 mm headphone jack

But these modifications do not make the new iPhones that much different from their predecessor, iPhone 6 or 6S. In fact, the design is quite similar to them. In fact, if you don’t check the configuration, you won’t be able to tell the new models from the old.

But what is different is that the new 7 Plus is water-resistant, meaning you won’t have to fret over accidental pool slips nor rush the phone to a mobile doctor, if the iPhone gets wet in the shower. For a design this sleek, it is a beautiful change and a necessary one.

Then there is the camera, which is the showstopper for 7 Plus (well if we ignore the 3GB RAM) because it features two lenses working together to create amazing images, the two 12MP sensors pulling together a single lens, and for a proper zoom there is the telephoto lens. It is a delight to click pictures with this camera.

The new iPhone is going to be launched in a couple of weeks. Which one are you planning to get? Does the iPhone 7 Plus entice you with its RAM and camera? Or you prefer the smaller size?
