MacBook Selfie Sticks – The Beginning of the End of Civilisation

    Spread the word

A while back, an open letter about taking photos with iPads went viral on the Internet. In it, the author urged people not to take selfies and pictures with an iPad, lest they look like “complete tools.”

Good advice, if you ask us, because there’s no way you can look distinguished doing this –

He went on to say “Pretty much every laptop computer these days [has a camera], and yet you don’t see anyone pulling out their Dell Latitude to take a few snaps of the Mona Lisa.

At that time, the writer had no clue just how prophetic his words would prove to be or how insanely humans could behave in their hipstery lust for a selfie.

    Introducing, the MacBook Selfie Stick.

Created by an artist collective out of New York, the MacBook Selfie Stick first came to public notice as a collection of photographs on the aptly named website macbookselfiestick.com.

What misery drove them to create this product, we cannot say. What we can say, though, is that the device isn’t fun. The stick looks bulky with a large stand attached at the end of it to hold your MacBook. It’s obvious that the stick will be quite heavy as it will need to support the weight of your laptop.

What’s worse is that there’s no confirmation that it’ll actually be able to take a snap!

Like a traditional selfie stick, there’s no button on this one that triggers the camera. Because there’s no camera button on a MacBook. Because it’s not a freaking camera, people!!!!

Listen to us, folks. Don’t be idiots. Do not buy one of these and roam around the city spreading “ewwww” and “yukkk”. Be honorable citizens and use an actual camera. At worst, use your iPhone, but not your iPad, and never, EVER, your MacBook.
