Two New iPads Receive BIS Certification in India, Right Before March 25 Press Event

    Spread the word

Among other anticipated releases this March (cue, Captain Marvel!), there is the expected launch of two new iPads. Not too long ago, we had written about the rumoured launch of the new iPad and iPad Mini models and it looks like the rumours were indeed grounded in reality.

Two new iPad versions have apparently received certification from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). This certification is a mandatory protocol that companies have to follow before launching new devices in the country.

    What’s coming?

According to the BIS data, there are a total of seven models, including A2123, A2124, A2133, A2152, A2153, A2154 and A2126. The new models are A2124 and A2133, and these numbers were also listed in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) last month. There’s no confirmed information regarding the details of the models; they could be two different models or variants of one iPad model. We only know that the manufacturer is China’s Hongfujin Precision Electronics.

Apple expert analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, stated in his latest research note that Apple may, in fact, release four new iPad models in 2019. According to the launch forecast, the lineup will include a new 10.2-inch “budget” iPad and a fifth-generation iPad Mini.

    What’s new?

The two new iPad Prod models will obviously come with upgrades. The question is whether the upgrades are something significant. iPad Mini 5 will reportedly retain its 7.9-inch Retina display. Even design-wise, there aren’t many changes as it will sport most of the elements of the older design. However, an upgraded processor and storage is the possible addition, and it is also rumoured that the iPad mini 5 will support Apple Pencil and/or Smart Keyboard. That’s no new news though since 2018’s Rs. 28,000 also supports the first-generation Pencil. Let’s see if this iPad model supports the first or the second generation Pencil.

This news has come just before Apple is to hold its press event on March 25. Although there’s no news yet on the launch date of the two new iPads, the timeline is well aligned. So, it is quite possible that they’ll use this event to launch the products. If that’s true, then, there are way more launches this March.

    How utterly MARVEL-lous!

Still they take forever to release here. Ipad pros 10.5 have been out of stock for months before it finally discontinued. Ipad pro 2018, one can find those only now that too without any offers mostly. Apple deserves what it gets from India. Terrible sales department.
