At Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, the company gave us quite a lot to look forward to in the coming months. From iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 to the new Apple Silicone chips for Macs, WWDC this year was a treat for Apple fans. And, of course, a part of the keynote was dedicated to the Apple Watch. If you missed it, not to worry! From new features to watchOS 7 release date and more, here’s all you need to know about the next update.

    Sleep Tracking, Finally

The one feature we’ve been asking for since perhaps the Apple Watches came to our wrists, and now it’s finally here! The new watchOS 7 sleep tracking features include a Wind Down mode, which helps you go to sleep by letting you set your desired bedtime, wake-up time, and set your screen to Do Not Disturb. The mode will help you establish a proper sleep routine, and even provide shortcuts to help you meditate or listen to sleepytime music as you get ready for bed.

Plus, you have the option to choose to wake up with an alarm of just a haptic buzz from your watch, perfect for those who hate flinching awake due to loud alarms first thing in the morning.

How Long Do You Wash Your Hands?

If you haven’t been counting the seconds when you wash your hands, well, your watch will do it for you! Yup, our beloved Apple Watches have found a new way to shame us now, from breathing and standing to now washing our hands. Apple during WWDC revealed that this feature will detect when you’re washing your hands and start a 20-second timer, prompting you to keep washing if you fall short of the time.

Just what some people needed, I suppose!

    Share Watch Faces

While the Apple Watch doesn’t actually have a watch face store, you’ll now finally be able to customise our watch faces a little more and even share them amongst each other. In watchOS 7, there will be an option to share watch faces with your contact and even download them from the internet. And if any watch face requires apps that your watch doesn’t already have, the apps will be listed so you can easily download them.

What are the watchOS 7 Supported Devices?

We have some good news on the watchOS 7 compatibility front! If you’ve got an Apple Watch that’s Series 3 or more, you should be able to download the new update once it drops. Yay!

There you go, folks. Here’s most of what we know about watchOS 7 for now, but don’t mistake this as an exhaustive list! There’s also a new workout app called Fitness, cycling directions, language translation using Siri, and more. As for the watchOS 7 release date… well, it’s probably coming to us at the same time as iOS 14 in September or October. The wait is long, but hopefully, the anticipation will get us by.

Until then, tell us: which feature are you most looking forward to and why is it sleep tracking? Just kidding. Tell us what you think of the watchOS 7 concept in the comments below.
