Have you given up waiting for the futuristic Apple AirPower Mat that promised simultaneous wireless charging of your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods? Well, it’s time you revive your interest in it because a string of new rumours is suggesting that the AirPower Mat might be coming after all .

In 2017, when Apple announced the launch of iPhone 8 and iPhone X – the first phones to support wireless charging, they also gave us a sneak peek into AirPower charging mat. However, there were no developments on that front for almost a year and a half, and most people had written it off as a product that had failed before its release.

The news of AirPower mat’s revival was first broken by ChargerLab who tweeted, “Breaking: AirPower is finally coming. We just learned from a credible source in supply chain that the manufacturer Luxshare Precision has already started producing Apple AirPower wireless charging pad. Luxshare Precision is also the maker of Apple AirPods and USB-C cables.”

ChargerLab also said that Pegatron, a Taiwanese company that produces iPhones, will also start the production of the charging mat later this month.

    Reasons For The Delay

As mentioned, The AirPower mat can charge multiple Apple devices – iPhone, Apple watch, and AirPods simultaneously. But would Apple stop at just that? The device’s advanced features reportedly go beyond that.

When you charge all three products together, the iPhone screen will show the charging status for all the devices. And that’s not all, you can also place the devices anywhere on the mat – there’s no designated space for them.

Reportedly, this second feature caused the engineers quite some trouble. The three sets of charging coils in the same mat generated huge amounts of heat. But, Apple’s tech superheroes seem to have finally found a solution to this issue, and, thankfully, the launch date of the product is not too far away.

However, the US government shutdown can prove to be a party pooper for all those with expectant hearts. If the product doesn’t receive Federal Communications Commission approval, the wait will have to last a little longer. How long? We do not know, we cannot tell.

While any further delay will add to the frustration of everyone, the silver lining is that the Airpower mat is still very much on the table. #dadjoke
