Apple Watch Has a Bagful of Tricks Up Its Sleeve

    Spread the word

An Apple a day keeps boredom away. So, here’s your daily dose of all things Apple! Today we are going to explore the not-so-obvious features of Apple Watch.

The watch packs a surprising number of features in such a tiny yet sophisticated casing. And while you must be acquainted with the usual applications, not all features are obvious from the get-go. So, here’s a list of neat tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your Apple Watch –

    Screenshotting Through Life

Ever heard the saying a pen is mightier than the sword? Well, screenshots are mightier than both of them. Screenshots have the power to make or break your life! And this is how you do it. Just press each of the buttons on the right side of the watch, and your precious screenshot will automatically be saved in the Photos folder on your iPhone. But, for all this sorcery to happen,

    1. Go to My Watch tab
    2. Tap General
    3. Scroll down and toggle Enable Screenshots.

    List View to your Rescue

Remember trying to squint your way through Apple’s honeycomb layout, cursing at your watch? Though that’s gonna be your life? Well, not anymore!  Apple may be testing but not merciless. Hence, the list view. To access the list view press the crown once and that will present you with the apps. Now, force touch, i.e. press firmly on the center of the screen, and you’ll see the layout options – list view or grid view. Take your pick

    Turn on Fall Detection

Flaunting an Apple Watch 4 series? Did you know that your watch comes with a fall detection feature and can notify your emergency contacts? Now that’s what I call a must-have feature. But the catch here is that the feature will only be enabled if you enter your age as 65 or above during the setting up of your Apple Watch.

And if that’s a little too much for you but still want the feature, take a trip to the Watch app on your iPhone and follow the instructions.

    1. Open the ‘My Watch’ tab
    2. Tap on Emergency SOS
    3. Toggle Fall Detection
    4. Edit and add your emergency contacts

    Turn off Display and Mute

Need an easy trick to silence your Apple watch in a pinch? Try Apple’s ‘Cover to mute’ mode. All you have to do is cover the entire watch with the palm of your hand, and in the next three seconds you’ll feel your watch vibrate, and that’s when you know it has been silenced! Sounds sinister, doesn’t it?

The same trick works if your watch face has woken up from a deep slumber, but you don’t want it to. Just cover the entire watch with the palm of your hand, and the deed is done! In case the feature doesn’t work, it may be because it has been disabled in the watch settings. To turn it on

Go to the Watch app on your iPhone.

    1. Look for My Watch tab
    2. Tap Sound and Haptics
    3. Toggle ‘Cover to mute

    Send a Call to Voicemail

How many times have stared at the phone ringing in your hand, waited for it to stop ringing and texted the caller saying ‘hey you called, sorry was in a meeting?’ Don’t worry I get the sentiment. Therefore I am here with a better solution. Let it go to voicemail! That way if it’s anything urgent, the person can leave a message on the voice mail if not then you can always catch up later…or not!

Anyhoo, here’s how you send a call to voicemail. Double-tap on the side button on your watch and voila! Straight to the voicemail. It’s the same as double-tapping the side button on your iPhone.

    And It’s a Wrap!

That’s it for now, folks. But don’t worry, there’s a lot more where that came from. So, I’ll be back soon with more such nifty tips and tricks. And in the meantime, hopefully, these features will help you make the most of your Apple Watch.
