iPhone 7: Everything We Know So Far

The next iPhone is almost a year away, and yet, the rumour mills are already full of interesting stories! The speculations range from expected to down-right weird. Here’s a list of all the iPhone 7 rumours that are doing the rounds.

    No Home Button

Yes, Apple is planning to kill the home button! Some keen observers have noted that subtle changes in the iPhone 6S, like 3D Touch based app switcher, are meant to prepare the audience for iPhones without home buttons. The reason for getting rid of the home button is to make the phone smaller and more compact.

You must be wondering what’s going to happen to the latest Touch ID function. The ‘experts’ have an answer for that as well. The expect Touch ID to be built into the entire screen, so you will (probably) be able to unlock your phone by touching anywhere on the front of your iPhone 7. That’s cool!

    Water Proof

We wrote a post mentioning that iPhone 6S is ‘almost waterproof’.
In all probability, iPhone 7 will fulfil the transition and give us a water friendly handset. So the next time you accidently drop the phone in a bucket of water, you won’t have to go all Gollum on it: “Myyyyy prrrecioussssssss!!!!”

    No Headphone Jack

It looks like Jony Ive will stop at nothing in his quest to make iPhones thinner every year, even if it means sacrificing the 3.5 mm headphone jack. If this rumor is true, the new Ear-Pods will work with Lightning connector instead of the standard metallic pin.

Of course, there will be third party headphones and Apple might also make Lightning-to-stereo converters. Still, we aren’t looking forward the added inconvenience (not to mention the extra cost) at all.

    3 New Models

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and … iPhone 7C. That’s right. There are strong indications that Apple is bringing back the 4-inch version. Why? Because many people still prefer the smaller size.

In fact, many sources are predicting the launch of the 4-inch model as early as February 2016. In that case, it is unlikely to called 7C. Either way, expect 3 iPhone models next year instead of 2.

    3 GB RAM

The new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus were the first phones to get a RAM upgrade in a long time. And we thought it would be a few years before we saw another bump up in the RAM. However, Apple seems to have different plans.

The new iPhone is expected to feature a 3GB RAM. But there’s a catch. As a distinguishing factor, the RAM upgrade might only come with the bigger iPhone 7 Plus.

So these are the current iPhone 7 rumours. What do you think of them? Which one do you hope is true and which one are you praying is just a rumour? Let us know in the comments section below.
