Did you buy a MacBook Pro model within the time period of 2013-15? If so, you might be among the select few who’re disgruntled by your anti-reflective screen, which may be silvered or simply looks like a tessellating mess.
A leaked document, obtained by MacRumours will cause you to heave sighs of relief, perhaps. Those of you who didn’t get your screen repaired for outrageous amounts, in the very least, will have cause to celebrate.
Apple has extended its repair program, the document confirms, and is upping the coverage for those experiencing issues with anti-reflective coating by another four years. Apple had launched this program earlier, when issues with the screen came to the fore in early 2015.
The 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pro units manufactured in 2013, 2014, or 2015 are eligible. Some models have been discontinued, while some of them are still sold. Here is a list for of models for your reference:
- 2013 13-inch MacBook Pro: July 2018
- 2013 15-inch MacBook Pro: July 2018
- 2014 13-inch MacBook Pro: March 2019
- 2014 15-inch MacBook Pro: May 2019
- 2015 13-inch MacBook Pro: October 2020
- 2015 15-inch MacBook Pro: Still sold
Machines from 2012 aren’t included, as they fall outside the 4-year ambit – they were anyway discontinued in October 2013.
Users can book an appointment at an Apple Authorized Service Centre to get their MacBooks shared. Alternatively, you can go to Apple India’s website to locate the service centre in your area. This will give you the right set of options for initiating repairs. Of course, if all this is too complex, you can always contact them via phone, email, or online chat.
You will need your Mac’s serial number, which can be found by clicking on the Apple logo in the top-left corner of the screen and clicking on About This Mac in the dropdown menu.
Apple has reportedly prohibited support advisors from mentioning details about the anti-reflective coating repair program in online chat sessions, so visiting a store may be required.
