Reliance and Apple partner up in India hoping for mutual benefits

    Spread the word

Apple and Reliance will soon walk hand-in-hand to “discover Bharat”. The two of the largest conglomerates in the United States and India have entered into a partnership in hopes of a “win-win relationship for both”.

The official partnership came to light a few hours ahead of the iPhone 8 and 8 plus launch in India. Akash Ambani said —

“[It] gives me great pleasure to introduce the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus on Jio.”

Through this partnership, Apple hopes to expand its reach to over 900 Indian cities and towns, while Reliance is aiming to be the largest iPhone distributor in the country. Although the telecom giant arrived a little late to the distributor’s party, Reliance came well prepared with few tricks up its sleeve. According to the latest reports, Reliance has taken charge of the product distribution which might lead to an increase in the points of sale to more than 2000 for the newly launched iPhones (as compared to the launch of iPhone 7).

    Offers, offers, everywhere!

In order to expedite the sales of the new iPhone 8 and 8 plus, Reliance Jio has introduced quite a few lucrative deals. The best one is certainly the “Reliance Jio Bundling Offer”. The offer includes 70 percent buyback after 12 months on the iPhones bought with the Jio tariff plans pre-installed. Conditions applied, Of course!

The Buy Back after a year offer gives you two options, either return the one-year-old iPhone 8 or 8 Plus to upgrade to a new iPhone device (like an iPhone X, perhaps!) and the money would be adjusted and you would only have to pay the difference. Or, in case you choose to end the iPhone love affair altogether, the “70 percent buyback” will be returned in form of discount vouchers/coupons/products across Reliance Digital store.

But what if I just want my money back? Well, that’s where the “Conditions Apply”!!

In addition to the 70 percent buyback, Reliance Jio plans to roll out several data plans for both prepaid and postpaid iPhone 8 and 8 Plus users.

This alliance might just prove to be a smart move on behalf of both the companies. On one hand, it increases the chances of iPhone customers opting for Jio over other network providers, and on the other, it lends Reliance a much-needed brand-value and credibility due to the association with Apple.

    iPhone X Launch Preparations

Reliance Jio and Apple are gearing up for the launch of the anniversary edition iPhone X in India. The radically redesigned iPhone X will be up for sale from November 3, just two weeks after Diwali, perfect for them after festival sales.  While we are yet to see how the partnership between the American phone maker and the Indian telecom conglomerate pans out, chances are that we will witness a significant bump in the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X’s sales.
