Good news guys!! The software you’d been waiting for so long is finally here — and ahead of time, too! The iOS 10 beta and macOS Sierra beta are now available for public download!! And, it’s absolutely free of cost!!
how to download
You can download the iOS 10 beta and macOS beta by signing up for the Apple Beta Programme. Click on this link and sign-up using your existing Apple ID. If you don’t have an ID, or if you don’t want to mess up your existing ID, you can create a new one and sign-up with that as well.
We suggest you start by reading the FAQs listed on the Beta Program page. They’ll answer most of your doubts regarding download and install. You can also write to us if you need any clarifications or help related to the entire process.
Features we’re looking forward to
iOS 10
- We’re most excited about the all new iMessages app! It’s going to be epic will all the cool ways to chat. More importantly, now that it’s open to developers, we can expect a rapid increase in the number of third party apps compatible with the messaging app.
- The redesigned and stunning looking lock screen is definitely on our wish-list. Apart from just the looks, the new lockscreen also uses a number of 3D Touch features to enhance productivity.
- The favorite of most people — Photos app — is bringing enhanced photo sorting and organising. Also added is the capability to intuitively make short movie clips by algorithmically selecting photos from the camera roll.
- Among other apps that get a redesign/upgrade are Apple Maps, Music, News app and Homekit.
We have already compiled a list of all the features coming to iOS 10 — A few other new features were added in the developer beta 2. Unfortunately, not all the features are available to us in India.
macOS Sierra (10.12)
A lot of cool features are coming to our beloved Mac as well. Not the least of which being:
- Siri is coming to the Mac!!
- Intelligent data sorting and cleaning for the hard-disks.
- Over-the-cloud Cut, Copy and Paste functionality. Meaning, you can cut/copy text from your iPhone and paste it in an open document on your Mac. Or, you can copy an image from your Mac and paste it in a Keynote you’re working on, on your iPad! Wow!!
- The Photos app on Mac also gets the same upgrades as the one on iOS.
- And finally, auto-unlock using the proximity sensor in your Apple Watch! (*Epic mic drop. *Vanishes in a whirl of smoke.)

a word of caution
Before you download the beta, we would like to warn you about the dangers of installing it. Remember that this is not the finished product, and therefore, it’s prone to bugs. Some bugs might be harmless glitches, but some can be quite harmful to your device as well as data.
Therefore, we request that you DON’T install the betas on your primary devices. The best practice would be to use a spare device to test out the software.
