The New MacBook is Already Giving Us Nerdgasms!

Some people get excited looking at paintings and sculptures. Others have a thing for swanky new sports cars or motorbikes. Me? I am a gadget person through and through. And I am going to assume that most of you reading this article share my love. Dude, why else would you be here?

Anyway, tech enthusiasts gather around and get ready to be awed, because the new MacBook Pro is already giving us nerdgasms!! The spec-sheet for the new MacBook grows everyday, and with it grows our desperate desire to hold the real product in our hands.

This is right about the time I start gushing and rambling, so I am going to stop and just delve into this pleasure inducing Macbook that’s making my eyes just glaze over.

    1. Build and Design

Firstly, the new MacBooks will be thinner (duh!) and lighter (duh!). While I am certainly not complaining about the light weight, I do wonder how much thinner the Macbook is going to get before it completely disappears. I mean, there has to be a bare minimum amount of thickness that cannot be crossed, right?

As for the design, the new MacBooks will not carry the wedge shape of the MacBook Air. They’ll instead be equally thick (thin?) at all the points. Frankly, I was never a big fan of the wedge design, so I am all in favour of a flatter design.

    2. Ports

We can almost certainly say that the new MacBooks will ship with USB-C ports, but exactly how many ports we cannot say. And neither can we comment on the availability of other standard ports such as the Thunderbolt port or the standard USB 2.0/3.0.

Here’s where I take umbrage. No matter how sleek the MacBook gets, if it comes equipped with only one sorry ass USB–C port, I swear to God somebody’s gonna get a hurt real bad!

    3. Graphics and Display

Apple will most likely use AMD’s “Polaris” Graphics Card for the new machines. The reason is simple: they are thinner and faster!

9to5Mac reports that the new Graphic Cards are “20% thinner and up to twice as fast”. So yeah, thinner and faster. I get it, I get it. The Macbook is thinner and faster. Jeez! Are we discussing computers here or anorexic athletes!?

Sorry, but had to do a Olympics joke! Moving on…

    4. Input Devices

Oooohhh… we’re getting into the big leagues now! The craziest, most wonderful design element for a laptop since the invention of the touchpad, has to be, has to be, the OLED Touch Display!

We have already ranted quite a lot about it, and you can read it all here: Can’t Wait for the Super Cool OLED Touch Bar on This Year’s MacBook

There’s also a rumour (more of a speculation, actually) that the new MacBooks will be compatible with the Apple Pencil.

    Wait, what!?

Yup! That was my reaction as well. I did go a bit crazy as well. Check it out: Apple Pencil is Coming to the Mac!

And finally, we might get to see Touch ID on these new babies!

    Say what!!??

Imagine how cool it would be unlock your Mac with your fingerprint!

So, that’s about all of the info we have on the new MacBook Pros! As for the when – when will we be able to cradle these babies in our arms? We cannot say anything for sure.

Apple has never followed a fixed schedule for bringing new updates to the Mac series. Unlike the iPhone that sees a new version every September, the MacBooks get upgraded as per the whims and fancies of the Apple executive.

So we cannot be sure when the next MacBook will appear on stage. We’d hoped it’ll be this September, but it looks highly unlikely. Maybe in the next March/April event. Whenever they come, we can be sure that the world will be waiting with bated breath!
